The
standard office module at the Portmore Informatics
Park comprises of a two storey building
of approximately 4,654 sq. meters(50,000
sq. ft.) gross with each floor being 2,230
sq. meters (24,000 sq. ft.) laid out on
1.8m x 1.8m (20 ft. x 20 ft.) square grids
with minimum floor to ceiling height of
1.4m (15 ft.)
The building is designed to accommodate
a maximum of four clients on each floor
each occupying approximately 558 sq. m (6,000
sq. ft.).
Sanitary conveniences for both males and
females are provided on each floor and a
telecommunications booth, a fire station,
janitor's room, air-conditioning rooms,
a service elevator and staircase are all
grouped together in the central core of
the building. Access to this area is provided
by a (9 ft.) wide corridor leading from
the main entrance and exit at ground floor
level. The walls on each floor are of precast
concrete rising to a height of 50 feet with
5 feet of glass rising to the ceiling.
The roof consists of pre-stressed concrete
slabs of 3,000 p.s.i. with steel mesh fabric
of 1.14 kg / s.m. (4.32 lbs. / Sq. yds.)
Covered with water proof felting and a coating
of all weather roofing paint
Lightning rods are placed at regular intervals
around the perimeter of the roof.
